Paper forest.

Photographing children is mostly waiting. The concept removes the waiting by building a set that does the posing for them.

Everything is handmade: paper palm leaves, a painted blue sky, a forest of cardboard trees, a flower cut from coloured card, a horse held overhead like a trophy. The five kids were left to do what kids do. One reaches straight for the lens. One sticks out a tongue. Three lie in a circle, heads together. One runs past a paper tree with a rucksack on.

The set's colours, mustard, sky blue, leaf green, sit next to the clothes rather than fight them: striped knits, a pink cardigan, a printed tee. It looks like a picture book and still shows every garment.
