A period house in Gávea, listed empty by Blue Chip: walls split blue over yellow, an orange kitchen island, a red stair, green and terracotta bedrooms and a timber-roofed attic.
Old houses in Rio are usually listed as projects. This one arrives with its colour already chosen, and the shoot follows it room by room: blue above, yellow below, a terracotta kitchen under a green wall, a red-painted stair climbing out of a tiled hall.
The house is empty, so the walls do the work furniture would. Each room is framed square to its colour, with the doors and windows open so the garden shows through. Clay tiles downstairs, wood floors and timber wardrobes in the bedrooms upstairs.
The last rooms are the ones a buyer rarely sees in a listing: a balustraded terrace with a bougainvillea, and an attic under the bare roof timbers, big enough to become another floor. It is shown as it is, shelves and all, because a buyer will ask about it.
