Ten rooms from CASACOR, Brazil's design show, photographed as their architects left them: a living room guarded by a folk-art jaguar, a sewing desk, a velvet reading room, a terracotta dressing room.
Every year CASACOR hands each architect a room and a few weeks. What comes out is a house with no single owner: ceramic tile laid like fabric, plaster cut into arches, brass, bouclé and ochre velvet, objects found and objects made.
The shoot reads it as one house. It opens on the living room and its green jaguar, sits at the sewing desk, crosses the dressing room and the white bath, and ends in the café under orange arches.
Every frame is vertical and level, shot at eye height with the rooms' own lamps on. Colour stays true to the materials, so terracotta reads as clay and velvet keeps its weight.
