Early sample still lifes made for L'Oréal Luxe: Aesop hand care, OUAI hair and body care and Sol de Janeiro body care, each on a bathroom counter by a window, from Manhattan to the beach.
The idea is a window. Every frame puts the products on a sill or a counter with a view behind, and the view tells the shopper which brand they are looking at. Aesop's amber bottles get a skyline at dusk, a brown towel and a stone basin. OUAI gets white tile, limes and a pale city, including a tower everyone knows.
OUAI's frames are the cleanest of the set. A white bottle and a small oil bottle on a sink with halved limes, a tall bottle beside rolled towels and a bath brush, a round bottle on a wooden tray with lavender salts. The palette never leaves white, sand and green.
Sol de Janeiro moves the window to the coast. The 62 mist stands on blue-green tile with oranges and a yellow towel, the cream jar and body wash share a tray with nuts, citrus and palm leaves, and a final shelf adds a pineapple and tropical fruit. Same counter, same window, a third brand and a third climate.
