Maternity clothing is often photographed as if pregnancy were a pause. In New York nobody pauses, so the concept follows one expecting woman through an ordinary day in the city.

She crosses the Brooklyn Bridge at full stride in a long camel coat. She cuts through the main concourse of Grand Central at rush hour while the crowd blurs around her. She leans on a stone wall in a black hoodie and the coat. She gets into a yellow cab, Midtown reflected in the window, and settles into the back seat with her bag.

The wardrobe is the one she would wear anyway: a good coat, black knit, knee boots, a leather tote. Maternity, here, means the clothes adapt to her, not the other way round.
